About

Prime Cricket Guide is for readers who want to understand what is happening beyond the boundary rope and the score. We cover the laws, formats, tactics, roles and patterns that shape cricket, explaining the game in plain English without assuming a long history of watching.

What we cover

The site follows cricket from the laws that define a delivery to the broader choices that shape an innings. Our subjects include match formats, fielding positions, bowling plans, batting roles and the details that help a reader follow a contest as it develops.

Who it is for

Whether you are learning the game, returning to it after time away or simply want more from a match, our articles offer a steady place to begin. We aim to make unfamiliar terms and decisions easier to follow without talking down to the reader.

How we explain the game

We begin with a clear question and keep the explanation close to the way cricket is played and watched. We distinguish a rule from a tactic, explain specialist terms when they matter and avoid treating one approach as a law of the game.
